3 Ways You Are Sabotaging Your Business and How to STOP Them with Gene Hammett

Ways You Are Sabotaging Your Business and How to STOP Them with Gene Hammett

Welcome to our first solo show…100% content for the business owner that is striving for financial freedom and a purposeful lifestyle.  In this episode, we discuss the 3 ways you are sabotaging your business with examples and even talk about what you can do to overcome this 3 specific areas.  I based this on my 20 plus years experience in business, building multi-million dollar companies, and many interviews with other successful people that have pulled themselves “out of the trenches”.

Leaders In The Trenches’ Target Audience:  My target market for Leaders in the Trenches is people who are in the trenches, working hard to build businesses but sometimes feel overwhelmed by all the opportunities and responsibilities that come with being a business owner.

Having been an entrepreneur my whole life, I understand the difficulties we face in getting our businesses off the ground and running. There are plenty of peaks and valleys during that process; I have personally experienced them!

As a result of those experiences, I’ve found there are three main ways most of us sabotage our businesses.

The first is trying to serve everyone. As Rick Mulready said when he was on the show, “If you try to serve everyone, you serve no one.” And he’s right. Too often we as business owners want to help anyone and everyone, because we would never want to turn down a customer. It’s important to our success to actually narrow down our target market; all the guests on this podcast have that in common: their businesses didn’t reach their current level of success until they narrowed down their target market.

The second way we sabotage our business is by not evaluating and executing quickly. How often do we become inundated with new ideas, new strategies and new concepts before we can actually choose which would serve our businesses best? Far too often for most of us entrepreneurs!

And the third way we sabotage our success is by doing it all ourselves. You simply cannot grow your business and thrive if you are doing all of it on your own.

In this episode, here’s what we’ll cover:

  • How can you figure out who you really serve and what they need?
  • What is opportunititis?
  • How to avoid being scattered as a business owner.
  • What does agile development have to do with your business?
  • Why going it alone will sabotage your business.
  • If you want to stop sabotaging your business, what is one key thing you must do?
  • What are some of the benefits of being in a mastermind?
  • Why you must start using webinars before your competition does.

Practical & Actionable (at 28:41):

The practical and actionable advice I can give you is to sign up for the Sabotage to Success Assessment I’ve created. It’s composed of six questions, two in each of the three areas mentioned on this show. Sign up on the show notes page here and enter your email address for your very own copy.

The assessment uses six exact questions that are based on findings from the 27 people I’ve interviewed for this show along with 20+ years of experience working with my clients. I’ve taken all of that knowledge and boiled it down into six, easy-to-answer, multiple choice questions.

This assessment will shine a light on where you should focus your business to really improve it and take it to the next level. Use the assessment to stop sabotaging your business and build a business of success and lifestyle.

When you know who you serve, how to quickly implement the projects that come to you, as well as delegate to a solid team and you have a circle of trusted advisors – when all of that is in place, then your business is on the brink of tremendous success. You’re going to be happy about the work you are doing, you’re going to make a great impact and you’re going to solve problems, not just make money!
