How do you get more done? Have you ever thought about that or asked yourself that question of how do I get more done day in and day out? Well, a lot of people think it’s productivity hacks or it’s new tools or technology. I’m gonna share with you exactly some of the best advice you can get if you’re worried about how to get more done.

Hi, my name’s Gene Hammett. I work with companies that want to achieve what I call HyperGrowth. They want to grow faster than their peers. They want to understand what does it take in sales and marketing. But those are not the critical levers. It’s really about leadership and culture. But I share those things with my clients, and I make these HyperGrowth tips for you once a week to help you understand and bridge the gap from where you are now to where you wanna be.

So have you thought about to yourself how do I get more done? Well, it’s a question we all ask ourselves. How do I get more done, how does my team get more things done, and that really is a question that causes a lot of guilt. Bear with me for a second here because that guilt is something where you feel like you’re not where you really need to be and you want to. It causes anxiety or stress. And I get it, I’ve felt it before. I’ve been there, I’ve got projects that aren’t getting done. I’ve got team members that need to be trained. They’re not fully activated. And all of those things can cause anxiety and stress. And I’ve talked to myself about how do I get more things done.

Well, a lot of people think it’s more hours makes it better, and I could understand that logic because if you have been used to doing all the work, or you’re on the hook with these projects and no one else can do them then you think to yourself that you’ve just gotta put in more hours.

Here’s the big idea: what if the way forward to really getting more done is a simple concept that I’m gonna share with you? Here it is: you’ve got to slow down to go fast. You’ve gotta slow down your thinking. You’ve gotta slow down your activity, even. You’ve gotta put a little bit more time to really think about what needs to get done.

This could be prioritizing what needs to be done. This could be just getting some perspective, talking to your coach or mentor, to really go, “What am I missing here?” Because you charging at it hard, hard, hard, and you filling yourself up with guilt and anxiety is not going to work. You don’t have to put more hours in the day either, and in fact, I had four meetings with clients yesterday, three on phone calls and one face to face. And in each one of those sessions, something came up where this made sense. And so I thought I’d share it with you today, and it’s this, you gotta slow down to go fast.

Slowing down is about rest. Slowing down is about time to think about where you’re going. Slowing down is time to think about what hasn’t been working, and get really clear before you take action because then you can go much faster with that level of clarity, and that is what we’re talking about here. If you wanna get more things done, then you’ve gotta slow down to go fast. That’s my take here today, this is a HyperGrowth tip.
