Giving and Receiving Feedback
Develop High-Performing Teams with Courageous Feedback
Best Audience: It is perfect for Executive Leadership Teams and Front-line Leaders.
You don’t need training on feedback. Training is for students to learn as you would in school for a test. Today’s work is not like taking a test.
You want a FACILITATED EXPERIENCE with moments of direct coaching. In this workship, Gene will invite you to be vulernable by sharing today’s current challenges in giving and receiving feedback. Participants will be coached to provide feedback with courage and empathy while in the workshop. You must be able to receive feedback with couarge if you want to give it.
Facilitation is the best way to learn a topic as it applies to what you are currently experiencing instead of theory. In this facilitated workshop on courageous feedback, participants will learn to understand what stands in the way of giving effective feedback through direct coaching on fears that arise when a difficult conversation is needed.
When we hire smart and talented people, they crave feedback that will allow them to grow as individuals. They want to know how they can better serve the organization because it will make them more valuable to the marketplace.
My “in-the-trenches” coaching with leaders and my research with more than 521 fast-growth company leaders (Inc5000 level founders and CEOs) has uncovered some fundamental principles to growth that most companies ignore. One of the biggest limiters to already successful people is their fear of confronting others on difficult feedback. This is a big part of the experience to understand the FEARS of difficult conversations so that you can re-frame it to be the leader that can do it. The participants will define the framework that works for their current culture and the rituals that make feedback a natural part of talent development.
“The facilitation of this workshop allowed us to see where we stopped ourselves from giving feedback to our people. Gene helped us create a framework for how to give effective feedback so that our people’s true talent can be realized.”
— Team leader who participated in the workshop
Outcomes:
- Create a unified framework for feedback that makes everyone comfortable with the HOW of giving effective feedback.
- Understand the fears that people have that keeps them confronting those that deserve the feedback.
- Facilitation through current challenges in the development of our talented people with Gene’s direct coaching (9 years of executive-level coaching)
- Identify the rituals and practices that make feedback a part of the culture of the company.
Time: It can be a half-day or a full-day experience. Gene does require a pre-call to customize the experience to the team as well as his Growth Culture Assessement (all included in the experience). It is an interactive workshop that is facilitated by Gene. It also includes an executive debriefing after the workshop to ensure the work is integrated into the culture.
